Overview

In this study, we report high-precision spectroscopy measurements of the ground-state hyperfine structure of the molecular ion HD⁺ at a magnetic field of 4 T. We have determined the bound-electron g factor, \( g_{e,\text{bound}} = -2.00227854096(40) \), achieving a relative uncertainty of \( 2 \times 10^{-10} \). This represents the most precise measurement of a bound-electron g factor for a molecular ion to date. Our experimental findings align with recent advancements in ab initio theoretical models that incorporate quantum electrodynamical effects up to order \( \alpha^5 \), which have significantly reduced theoretical uncertainties by three orders of magnitude.

Additionally, we have extracted the scalar spin-spin interaction coefficients, \( E_4 = 925395.758(41) \) kHz for the electron-proton interaction and \( E_5 = 142287.821(22) \) kHz for the electron-deuteron interaction. These results exhibit a moderate discrepancy with another contemporary theoretical prediction, indicating the need for further investigation into the underlying physics of these interactions.
