يتم التعبير عن كثافة الطاقة للنظام كالتالي \( E = \frac{1}{2} (\nabla n)^2 + (n, \nabla \times n) + a n_z – b^2 a^2 \)، حيث \( a \) و \( b \) هما معلمات بلا أبعاد تتعلق بالأنيسوتروبي والحقل المغناطيسي، على التوالي.

Primary Topic: Magnetic properties of thin films
Overview
In this study, we investigated the spectra of low-lying excitations in skyrmion crystals (SkX) formed in thin ferromagnetic films characterized by Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI), uniaxial anisotropy, and external magnetic fields. Utilizing a 2π domain wall ansatz and stereographic projection, we derived optimal configurations for SkX across a broad range of model parameters. Our calculations of the dispersion relations and wave functions for low-energy magnons revealed conditions under which the energy gap between the experimentally observed Brillouin (Br) and counterclockwise (CCW) modes closes. Notably, we found that the magnetic field required for gap closure increases as the uniaxial anisotropy transitions from the easy-axis to the easy-plane region in the phase diagram.
Furthermore, our analysis of the wave functions for the Br and CCW bands near the center of the Brillouin zone indicated that the closing of the gap is accompanied by sign changes in the Berry curvature for each band. This finding underscores the significant dependence of the topological properties of excitations in SkX on model parameters, which can be manipulated through external magnetic fields and anisotropy values. The results align well with experimental observations and previous theoretical calculations, suggesting that our work may encourage further experimental and theoretical exploration of SkX dynamics, particularly in systems exhibiting moderate easy-axis anisotropy where topological transitions can be directly observed.
Discussion
In this study, we investigate the excitation spectra of skyrmion crystals (SkX) in thin ferromagnetic films characterized by Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI), uniaxial anisotropy, and an external magnetic field. The energy density of the system is expressed as \( E = \frac{1}{2} (\nabla n)^2 + (n, \nabla \times n) + a n_z – b^2 a^2 \), where \( a \) and \( b \) are dimensionless parameters related to anisotropy and magnetic field, respectively. Our analysis reveals that the stable local magnetization configuration transitions through various phases—magnetic helix, SkX, and uniform—depending on the values of \( a \) and \( b \). Notably, we focus on moderate anisotropy, where the gap between the breathing (Br) and counter-clockwise (CCW) modes closes as the magnetic field increases, with this transition being accompanied by a change in the sign of the Berry curvature.
We employ a stereographic projection approach to construct the SkX configuration and analyze the dynamics of low-energy excitations using the Landau-Lifshitz equation. Our findings indicate that the topological properties of the SkX excitations are sensitive to the model parameters, particularly the uniaxial anisotropy, which influences the energy levels and the behavior of the excitation spectrum. The results align well with existing experimental observations, suggesting that the topological transition in SkX dynamics has yet to be experimentally confirmed. We propose that further investigations in systems with moderate easy-axis anisotropy could provide direct evidence of these transitions, enhancing our understanding of skyrmion dynamics in various materials.
